Reflection
Using the Gibb’s Reflective Model I will reflect on the six Lab
session we had for this semester.
Description:In this week, I have practice administrating
via subcutaneous. First, checked the medication to ensure that it’s correct one,
that it is not discolored, and that the expiration date not passed. I draw up
the correct dose of medication. Using aseptic technique I cleaned the injection
area. I pinch the skin surrounding the area, and inserted the needle at a 45
angle. I injected the medication remove the needle, and hold pressure over the
area. Immediately I dispose of the needle and syringe in the sharps container. I
disperse the medication rub the area in a circular motion. Moreover, I further
practice the IV cannulation.
Feelings: I felt very interested to practice subcutaneous
injection. I felt confident while administering the subcutaneous injection
since my approach was right. Also, I
felt happy because I can see the improvement in how to cannulate the patient.
Evaluation: What was good about the case was I felt
my approach was right. I inserted the needle using the correct angle. Also, I
inserted the needle into the subcutaneous layer. Moreover, in the IV
cannulation, I was able to found the vein and cannulate. Also, I get flashback,
this indicates that cannulation was successful.
Analysis: Flashback in the cannulation indicates successful
of cannulation. Also, it’s important to check the site for any extravasation
and infiltration.
Conclusion: Nothing want wrong and I don’t feel that
I have to don’t again or to consider it.
Action plan: I plan to go through the OSCE IV
cannulation and make sure I know the steps in correct sequence .Furthermore, I
will practice more the IV cannulation and subcutaneous injection until it get
more easy
.

In this week, I have further read the recommended reading in this week. Before
reading the article I found difficult to understand the occupational lung diseases
lecturer but after reading this article I found very easy to understand the concept.
I have read occupational lung disease article. Also, I summarized what the
information that I found in the article into the table below.
